Are weddings worth it?

We’re going on year 5 now, married in a courthouse due to covid. Have 2 kids… should we do a wedding or is it a waste of money?

Just do a nice photoshoot and host a party. If you’re already married, it doesn’t seem worth paying for it tbh

@Donna Woods I think this is such a great idea tbh. I never considered hosting a party. Thank you xx

we're similar, married in 2021 with just 2 witnesses. i think we're just going to do a party up at my father in law's farm probably for our 5 year anniversary next year x

If it means a lot to you and you can afford it without going into any debt, do it.

It is up to the couple. For some it is very important, for others it is a waste of money. If you feel you missed something you can always do a public ceremony and a small party.

So my wedding was still an actual wedding but I would honestly fully recommend doing something similar. Basically we had the ceremony, I still got to wear a wedding dress and have all the wedding stuff but the ceremony was like 10 minutes (you could do like a vow renewal type thing) if you wanted ti do a ceremony. Otherwise I’d say just get all dressed up and invite all your friends and family for a potluck/dinner and party. I had my wedding in my parents backyard, we played some music and had some lights for when it got dark and literally just had a big party rather than something super formal and expensive

Go and use the money on a honeymoon ! Travel with the kids 👧

Honestly up to you. I went to a friend's blessing which they used as their wedding day. They had tried to get married several times before this and covid got in the way every time. They litrally eloped the very first day it was possible due to this but still wanted the wedding day they couldn't have due to covid. They count the day they had a blessing as their wedding anniversary and not their registrary office wedding

I wouldn't bother tbh!

We never had a wedding and are doing a vow renewal for our 10 year anniversary next year. We booked a community center venue with a church attached. We will be doing a full wedding event and I’m so excited. Our goal is under $7,000 and I think we’ll get there. We’re are expecting 75 guests so nothing massive. It’s worth it to me. Would I spend $25,000 noooooo but this is something I want so $7k is going to work for us.

My parents had a registry wedding and did a vow renewal and party for their 25th wedding anniversary. Theyre 38 years married now and their honeymoon is still pending 😅 Hoping I can help fix that though. Despite this, I feel alot of pressure from my Dad and society to have a big wedding but it just doesn’t make financial sense. Hubby and I have agreed we’ll either do a package wedding abroad if we can keep it around £5k or most likely do a registry with a little party/dinner with close family and friends and then a big party for one of our big anniversarys if we can afford to.

Not worth it

UK - but spent over 35 grand on our wedding and looking back I wish I would of just done it quickly and had a huge party xx

@N💋 we had our honeymoon after the courthouse! Glad I have those memories

@Dana 🦅♥️🤍💙 congrats on 10 years! I’m excited for you 🥳

@Serena honestly, the only thing that makes me wonder is not having any photos with a wedding dress or with my best friends. I think 5K is absolutely reasonable and would do the job!
