Ear pain

Is anyone else getting horrible ear pain from sleeping on their side and have you found any solutions? I’m 27 weeks and had pain in my ears since around 10 weeks which seems to be from the pressure of side sleeping. I did mention to my midwife and she just said it was really common and that was that. Wouldn’t mind, but I’m not someone who struggles with side sleeping as I always did anyway and my ears didn’t care. Really struggling with insomnia as well, so it really doesn’t help that when I do manage to get to sleep, my ears wake me up! I don’t wear any earrings or anything, and haven’t for probably fifteen years. I am hypermobile and have some slight hearing loss from dislocating my inner ear bones on the right side, but never had any problems with my actual ears. There’s no visible bruising, pressure sores or anything like that. Grateful for any advice from anyone who’s had similar!

Try going to the dr.?

@Amanda I was triaged by doctor who sent it to midwife who just said it was common.

this might be a hypermobile thing!, i’m currently 15+6 and the ear that i sleep on is in agony! feels so full all the time and just constant ringing and aching! i keep cleaning them but no build up wax, unfortunately i think this may just be another factor of our hypermobility 🤦🏻‍♀️

according to google, this is normal in people that struggle with hypermobility, due to the hormones increasing joint laxity which can worsen our hypermobility symptoms, this can then lead to increased joint instability potentially causing dislocations or sprains, which can also affect the ears and cause pain, hypermobility can also affect the muscles and tissues around the ears leading to pain and discomfort! this sounds very much what you, and i are experiencing!

@Jess Oh boo! But thank you. Nice to know it’s not just me at least as everyone seems to think I’m exaggerating it - which I’ve had enough of over the years; I’m sure you can imagine also being hypermobile! My right knee and hip have also been very unstable, which I was expecting, but the ear thing is definitely an unwanted surprise. 😣

@Donna aha yeppp, just another awful symptom of an already awful condition🤦🏻‍♀️ i’ve always had ear problems it’s just severely intensified due to pregnancy, and aha me too, but my left knee! keeps popping out, and the back pain is pure AGONY i can’t even stand straight, i get you, im constantly being told im overreacting, but no one can say that unless they have the condition themselves, it’s awful!

Omg my ears had been hurting when I slept but I didn’t think it was related to pregnancy I thought I was just sleeping wrong! I looked it up and yup it’s a symptom of pregnancy because of the increased blood flow and pressure 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Adriana Oh no, sorry to hear you have this too!
