I always told my employers because I find it much easier especially as I’ve suffered with bad morning sickness twice. They tend to go a bit more easier on you. Well mine do anyway but I have a fast paced on my feet job. But check your contract it’ll say in there xx
I haven’t signed a contract yet, would you advise i tell them before i sign?
I would tell them just for safety reasons too, insurance purposes plus if you get morning sickness they may be more nicer to you then u making up excuses why your off sick then months later u pop a belly Altho u could say you wanted to get to 12 weeks and ur 1st scan to ensure all was okay x
I’m only 8+5 weeks, but did get a reassurance scan 🙏
Legally you don't need to say anything till 25 weeks. You can tell your boss and ask them to keep it hush until you're ready to tell people. More of a just incase you need time off for scans or appointments
Legally you don’t need to say anything until you’re much further along but I would consider if there’s any health and safety risks because once they know they will have to do a risk assessment for you. You should also be able to take time off for maternity appointments then without using annual leave etc. They can’t discriminate based on you being pregnant so try not to worry about not being there long, if they were going to try and get rid of you etc they’d have to give another reason. I completely understand your anxiety though and if you haven’t signed a contract maybe I’d feel more comfortable telling them after that? I would just say that you just found out and didn’t realise when you applied for the job xx
I have also just started a new promotion role in the team but I have been in the team a while. I’m a bit anxious too but I’m going to tell them in the next few weeks as in my job I need risk assessments and I think telling them earlier so they can organise cover etc and be mentally prepared is better than leaving it later xxx
Depends what your policy says. Mine says before 15th week. With my first i was pregnant and told them on my first day as i felt guilty
