I’ve not had one elective (yet) but my son was an emergency one and my recovery was a lot easier than I anticipated! First few days are tough but just keep up with painkillers and be mobile as you can (within reason). I was hoovering the house in week 2 haha, and driving after 3 weeks. Also my scar is soo barely visible! Yes you do have a little shelf which I don’t really think is avoidable. I’m having an elective with baby number 2 in July and I’m sure it will be a different recovery experience with a toddler in tow but should have lots of help around thankfully x
I had my second baby October 23. My friends who had c section told me to bed rest as much as possible and walk little and often in the first two weeks. First 4 days were most painful but easily managed with painkillers, after a week I felt very little pain and went out for lunch day 10. My husband would bring my toddler to me for cuddles etc in the first week but he did all of the childcare with toddler and slept with baby on his side of the bed at night as I had to sleep upright for the first few days and bending over was difficult. My stomach was swollen for a really long time and didn’t go back down to pre baby weight for a year. My first was a vaginal birth and tummy had gone back down prettymuch right after so this was a shock for me! Can feel touch, scar is really neat much smaller than I expected and healed well.
My elective was great. Really chilled. Walked to the local shops on Day 4. Scar healed well. Wish I’d realised how much the nerves were shot when I was doing the blood injections! Would have done it nearer to the wound as they hurt loads 😂 But I didn’t have a toddler. And I’m still fat so my stomach needs some attention before I can comment on that. 🫤
I had a c section 6 months ago. It's difficult with a toddler in tow but if you have help take it and it's doable. My scar is neat and has healed well. I wasn't able to rest much after mine but keeping up with painkillers makes moving around possible! It was the first few days/week at home that I found the hardest but every day it gets a bit easier.
