Scared of placenta tissue

I have this anxiety about potential infections after the delivery, even if I delivered 2 weeks ago. Have you done an ultrasound to see if the placenta tissues or/and any blood clots are fully out cause I haven’t and I’m stressing about it, maybe for no reason.

Did you deliver vaginally? If so you did you not then “give birth” to your placenta? I have twice now and each time they informed me my placenta was delivered in full. My second birth I asked to see it and actually witnessed its entirety!

@Lizzie yes, vaginal with forceps. I keep thinking I should have asked to actually see it myself, I said no when they offered. I was on a super strong epidural so I didn't even feel the placenta delivery but the doctor said it was delivered in full. I hate that I said no to seeing it myself.

@Gulzhan I don’t think any doctor would lie under that situation as the risk of infection from leaving placenta tissue is so high. They would’ve had multiple nurses/doctors in if your placenta had torn. Have you noticed any significant blood clots or any sign of infection? I don’t even think an ultrasound would give you the answers you’re looking for to be honest.

@Lizzie You're probably right, I thought of that in my head too but I'm a serial overthinker so my mind is coming up with some random theories for no reason, even if I don't have any symptoms that it might have gone wrong.

@Gulzhan my heart goes out to you honestly. It’s so daunting the first few weeks as you are left with little to no information 😢 Assuming you’ll get a 6 week check or something similar, you can always mention your concerns and see what the professionals have to say! You can as well always request the notes from your stay in hospital. I’m UK based so don’t know how it differs where you are but here everything has to be written down and logged and you can request these notes at any time.

@Lizzie that's a good idea about the notes, I'll do that. Thank you so much for your replies 🫶🏼✨

Trust me when I say you would know if any of the placenta is still in. Even as doped up as I was the pain was excruciating. Felt like my insides were on fire bc the placenta ripped in half and half was still attached to my uterus. I had to go into emergency surgery and have a D&C to get all the tissue out and I was bleeding profusely, like bleeding out bc of it. So they had to go in and stitch my uterus and also my cervix.

@Brianna I’m sorry you had to go through that🥺. You're so strong, I hope the healing process went well. And thank you for explaining this to me.
