Stressing about hospital bags 😩

Can anyone tell me if I’ve overpacked / under-packed? 🤣 FTM and I’m stressing so much about what to pack for the hospital 🫠 Pictures in comments 👇🏼

Don’t forget cotton balls for baby, they don’t like you using wipes in the hospital and tell you to use cotton balls for the first few weeks xx

I don’t think you’ll need quite so many clothes or nappies in different sizes for baby but they don’t take up much room anyway so if that makes you feel more comfortable or you live really far from the hospital then do it. Otherwise I’d say it looks pretty perfect! If you are planning a V birth, I’d also suggest a perineal bottle as you won’t be discharged without doing a wee and the first one is a bit of a stinger 🥴

Highly recommend Spritz for Bits if you're planning on a vaginal birth! And as above said, peri-bottle! Also, take your own pillow and v-pillow/breastfeeding pillow for comfort when feeding 😊

@Natalie I’ve got cotton wool pads packed, I just forgot to add them to this list 😂

Looks good. Make a backup bag for you with extra cloths & pads etc in in case you end up staying in longer than expected. (Or just tell your partner where everything is so they can grab it for you if needed). I ended up in for a week and my husband bought some right weird clothes in when I asked him to pick more up for me 😂

As mentioned highly recommend a peri bottle if you’re having a vaginal birth! life saver!! Personally after my birth you can never pack too much! I thought we’d be out the next day, 2 days tops and we ended up staying in 5 days and had to get our parents to bring stuff for us! Good Luck Mama xx

That looks pretty much identical to mine! X

You won’t need a towel but the rest of the baby bits seem great. I took 2 blankets, made sure one was clean for going home. My girl spat up a lot of the waters/mucus from birth which went all over the blankets. Also I’d take a carrier bag for dirty clothes. For your self I’d add a water bottle. Much easier when labouring or c section recovery x

I had all this in my notes I packed everything on the list you have and only needed - pads and big knickers, peri bottle, toothbrush etc, pjs, slippers, nappy’s, wipes, 2 baby grows 2 vests, blanket, car seat, muslins, and that’s it. I was in there for around 48H.

Looks good! I’d recommend taking your own towel to have a shower. Honestly when you’re in hospital/ have given birth, none of this will matter. I packed loads and used hardly any of it haha x if you end up needing something for you and baby, the hospital will usually have it.

I had my baby in February I was induced and was at the hospital for a week. The only thing I used was my laptop and my toiletries also my Two pairs of pjs they supplied me with everything. Only thing I would bring next time is my own pillow. 😅

nipple cream is recommended

Great list thanks I am copying! I liked the maternity disposable pants if you have seen those? Another to add - Anti bacterial wipes for toilets as in one hospital I was in, they were disgusting. Some people took the toilet liners too. Also take antibacterial hand sanitiser, great for between nappy changes if there's rubbish handfasting facilities. Dummy in case baby needs it, only one of mine did. Also someone told me to take ear buds to protect against others snoring and other babys crying. This is my must this time! Don't forget bank card and few quid change. Pen and notebook to make notes - feeding times, tips people give you etc.

I’d put more clothes in the backup bag and have less in your actual bag. You also don’t need bibs and muslins, just one or the other, and don’t see why you’d need a towel. Babies eat and poop very little in the first few days, so you’re unlikely to need that much.

Can’t imagine you’ll need 3 nighties, maybe 2. But other than that, I’d take a small pack of each size nappies as you’re gonna want more than 10 most likely (if you’re expecting a small baby) but if you’re not then I wouldn’t bother with size 0. Deffo keep your towel in, incase you want to shower, wash your arm pits and bits etc.

Definitely recommend bringing a nursing pillow/v pillow to make it comfier for you whilst you’re feeding baba especially if you’re breast feeding or have a c section I was in for over a week and what you have written down is exactly what I had! The hospital usually have a lot of things there and kindly insist on giving it out but definitely take yours just incase they don’t have it. Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy & labour and congratulations 🤍
