Me too! Over a week I’ve had on and off contractions, I am 2cm’s dilated but no baby yet! I feel really confused and unsure what’s going on, midwives haven’t said anything to me either other than don’t come in until they are really bad and really close together xx
It sounds like latent labour, think of it as stage 0 where your body prepares for the actual labour and makes sure baby is in the right position. It can take days or weeks and it's really draining but, on the positive, it apparently often means the actual labour is easier and shorter! X
BTW, I wish I knew what it was with my first... I had it pretty bad and nearly non-stop for over 2 days, got fed up, went to the hospital, they told me I was 5cm, then a few hours later told me I was actually only 2cm... I was nearly 3 days in by that point and completely exhausted so I agreed to all sorts of interventions which spiralled into a c-section... In hindsight, I wish I had given my body more time and waited until the contractions were more "textbook" - mine were definitely still irregular but they were pretty strong and painful.
Happened to me with my first. Had two days of stop start contractions then had a sweep and they stayed anywhere from 6-20mins apart for another 3 days before I was admitted to labour ward. My advice is to sleep when they stop just now!! Xx
Just got discharged from Hospital after 2 days of irregular contractions, was 2 cm dilated yesterday morning. 3rd baby
I’ve not experienced it but read that the first stage of labour could be days. Especially if it’s your first x
