Gave birth w/o an epidural- advice from my experience (for health reasons)

I gave birth without an epidural (due to health concerns related to a genetic condition I didn’t feel comfortable utilizing it due to risks it posed in my case) Here’s some advice for the process if this is you’re goal Start of labor: try to relax into things eat, drink electrolytes or magnesium water, hydrate in general, then try to sleep or do simple relaxing tasks. If you have oddly timed contractions that don’t follow the normal pattern know that grunty sounds during contractions are a sign you need to head to the hospital. When things start to pick up: it will intensify slightly but try to labor at home for as long as possible especially if you have a support person who will be taking you to hospital: switch positions frequently, walk between contractions if you can safely do so, side lay with legs open and angled, use a ball, go hands and knees, sit backward on the toilet (dilation station). ⭐️ when you are getting the baby down into your pelvis you can’t tighten your abs or your buttocks you have to relax those muscles into each contraction with breathing consistently in and out w/ low groans 💧 keep drinking water even if you can’t eat but try to eat if you aren’t nauseated ➡️ when things intensify and you head toward the hospital during the car ride focus on that breath and relaxing that pelvic floor ¡do not push yet! 🏥 when you get measured dont despair keep laboring in different positions (the toilet is your friend) keep prioritizing breath, low groans, & relaxing the baby down through the pelvis. You can do this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️when you start to transition it will intensify and you might start to think you can’t do it but baby is close now, you need to know YOUR BODY WILL FEEL THE MOST RELIEF YOU CAN IMAGINE WHEN YOU BRING YOUR BABY EARTH SIDE. You need to push (body is probably already telling you to) and the urge will be to scream but if you can use all that remaining energy and focus through loud low guttural growls down to your baby and push with all your might like you are going number two the burning of the ring of fire will end and be replaced with relief and your baby. ‼️Trust yourself and your body and know whatever you choose to do is the right thing for you >>everyone’s bodies and needs are different that is beautiful and whatever is working best for you go with it, and know this >>however you bring that baby into this world is a damn miracle no matter which way you do it your body isn’t just a temple it has been a shelter, and now it will be a transport. You got this! Safety above all else 🫶⭐️✌️
