I've just finished writing mine up for my c-section. I've asked for skin-to-skin, midwives to take photos using my partners phone, my own music, the vitamin k for baby, general anaesthesia for the worst-case scenario backup plan, midwives to support my partner with first feed and change if I have to go under. I've also asked for my own private room and for my eldest to visit as soon as it's safe to do so.
You can talk about playing your own music, if you want baby passed to you or Dad straight away (obviously as long as everything’s okay), some hospitals allow for dimmed lighting, do they have the curtains you can see through so you can see baby being delivered if you want to, delayed cord clamping is still possible with a C Section if you’d like it and everything’s okay, if you need any help after you can ask for your partner to do skin to skin for the golden hour if it’s not possible for you, do you need to wear a gown or can you provide your own clothing for comfort and to aid with breastfeeding, did you want the birth recorded as some hospitals don’t love that so something to discuss. Different NHS trusts have different choices for elective sections so potentially lots to think about still ☺️
