Insulin at night?
I got diagnosed with GD pretty early at 14w and started tracking glucose with diet and exercise. Seems like I can keep my glucose steady during the day but my fasting is always around 110-115. The dietician at the diabetes center is recommending I go to insulin now, but my so is concerned that it’s too early.
Anyone have any insight on this? When do you start insulin if diet isn’t working? Is there any risk?

I am in Wales also. I got diagnosed at 16 weeks Gd. I went on 500mg of metformin to start with for my morning fasting reads, then they upped it to 1000mg, then 2000mg ( 2 in morning & 2 in evening). Tuesday I had my appointment with my diabetes consultant who then agree for me to start insulin as my morning readings for still high. So.im currently taking 2000mg metformin daily as well as 8 units of insulin for now. I see My consultant again in 4 weeks times x

When diet control didn’t work for me I was on metformin. They do 500mg first and then if needed double it. Then insulin if that doesn’t work. I’m not sure if different in other places though since I am in Wales x
