Have been having off and on contractions since yesterday afternoon. Those that mean labour is near? I’m 37+2 pregnant

Have called triage they said I should come in for check up
I’m 40+2 and had mild to moderate period cramps for the last two weeks but it still hasn’t turned into anything else
