I feel so awful

My 9 month old was on the bed when I got up on the bed and was fixing the shades which are on the window above the headboard. Then I look and she flew off the bed and started crying. I felt sooo terrible. Thankfully she has a cranial helmet on, we have carpet floors and the bed isn’t that high off the flooring. Im still worried. She cried for couple of minutes, she was holding on to her head, clearly it hurt. I took off her helmet and didn’t see anything red or swollen, she seemed to be ok, even smiled when I did peekaboos to distract her and crawled around, smiling at me again. It’s bedtime so she’s asleep now. In the back of my mind, what if it hurt her head/brain? I didn’t see any signs of that but still feel soooo terrible and worried. I learned my lesson and never ever leaving her on the bed like that. You can’t even look away from your little one for even a second! Has this happen to anyone before??

yes it happens!!! my baby has fallen off the bed too and he’s still perfectly happy and is very smart!!! don’t sweat it mama!! your baby will be just fine!!!

Thank you so much 😩 poor girl was so sad

my boy was too when it first happened! i just quickly picked him up and he was happy again! but most definitely so FRICKEN scary!!!!!! especially for little babes like that!

Yes soo scary, hopefully it’s nothing serious, doesn’t seem like it is. Google isn’t helping, by saying sometimes it takes days or weeks to notice issues. Having that helmet on makes me feel better that it helped at least a little

The rule of thumb I was told was if baby falls off something twice their height or more than it is best to get it checked out. It's always best to be on the safe side. That said, it happens, it's usually nothing, and you are doing great!

Oh ok! Thank you! The bed isn’t that high thankfully.

This has happened to me to so don’t feel to bad, I felt awful and I think I cried more than him but it happens aslong as she’s ok and acting normal, I just kept an eye on him for the day and he was completely fine xx

Yes this happened to our bub when he was under one and I too felt terrible but as long as the bed wasn’t high I’m sure they’re fine. A helmet and the carpet would also help but if you’re worried there’s no harm in getting her checked out for peace of mind.

This is quite common. About 60% of babies fall off the bed. We all do our best. Try not to feel guilty. Familiarise yourself with signs of concussion and take them in if concered. What did you mean by helmet? If there are cranial or health issues, it may be different from usual advice.

@Rosie cranial helmet is just to even out her head, just has a slight flat spot. No health issues, totally normal head/brain just a little uneven girl haha

Thankfully she’s taller than the bed by a head and wasn’t that high of a fall but still scary. Thank go everyone ❤️ she’s acting totally normal
