Honestly worst experience of my life, I had to have a C-section due to complications which was fine however they didn't treat me or my little ones dad very well
I had my first at GRH and had a few minor complications with pinky waters. But that subsided and throughout his birth the consultant kept pushing for a c-section. But I kept asking for alternatives. So they kept monitoring his heart rate. And then was all ready to go into theatre to have a forceps delivery and was in theatre just incase they needed to change to a c-section. But changed consultant to a lovely man who said "you don't need to go to theatre, I can deliver here" and he delivered him via kiwi. To this day I am certain if there wasn't a shift change I would have had a c-section! Not sure if her name was Helen but she had strawberry blond hair. That's all I can remember.
They tried to make me have a c section 3 times before I ended up having no choice due to baby pooing inside and being stuck at 6cm for hours and hours. It genuinely horrifies me that women don’t know their rights when it comes to having their babies. Like being induced is such a ridiculous concept when it’s the baby who signals it’s ready to be born. They’ve now reduced it to 1 week over your due date before they book you in to be induced but people don’t realise that it’s YOUR CHOICE! In France, due dates are 41 weeks so why are they inducing women at 41 weeks?? My midwife even told me the reason they induce so many people is to help with bed management!! I went 3 weeks over until I was induced as I didn’t have a plan for later than that and honestly I regret it. I had a scan to see if everything was ok and baby was fine, placenta was fine everything was good! But from 2 weeks late I was in hospital everyday for monitoring and they judged me soooo bad for going over 2 weeks late
With that being said I finally listened to the last “your baby could die if you don’t get induced” and I did it, got induced, baby wasn’t ready long story short he was in the wrong position and ended up in emergency c section. I’m now 34 weeks with my second and have a low lying placenta which is likely to be caused by my previous c section which infuriates me even more that I ever got induced. Women need to know that it is their choice and only you know your body and if your checks say your baby is fine and you feel fine then just bloody wait for the baby to come when it’s ready or you are so highly likely to end up in emergency section.
@Kirsten That sounds like her. Was the man called Charlie by any chance? I was at the hospital for 40+ hours so I had to endure many shift changes and different people with different agendas. I do remember a male doctor called Charlie who was very kind, reassuring, and he would approach me and tell me all the information and all my options. He helped me all the way to try and give birth naturally. He and a really wonderful midwife called Ada. They were both lovely and did what they could to try and get me to have a natural birth.
@Kirsten However, right from the beginning, when there were no problems, that Helen was already pushing for a c-section. Infact I went to the hospital a month before the birth because I had really bad pain under my ribs. I later learned this was endometriosis, or my uterus tissue aching due to being stretched so much. She said it's not possible for me to have endometriosis, and completely unrelated she looked at my birth plan and then told me I might need to have a c-section. I don't know why she said this as my pregnancy was healthy and there were no problems.
@Kirsten And funny enough, it was shortly after the shift change that I lost Ada and Charlie, and Helen came back. And then shortly after that I went under the knife. She herself cut me open, and she hurt my baby while yanking her out with forceps, she still has marks on her face and her head is slightly misaligned because of how forcefully she was taken out. We've paid a fortune we don't have taking her to an osteopath to try and fix the issue. Sadly this is something she will have to live with, and I worry it's damaged her permanently. I know the c-section has caused me a lot of health issues that I'm suffering from 8 and a half months on.
https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/gloucester-news/mothers-death-spike-stillbirths-prompts-10168218?int_source=nba seems like with all the inquests going on there is trouble on that ward at the moment, my first ended in a c section two years ago after an induction went wrong, supposed to be having my second in 3 weeks, feeling really uneasy about it 🫣
Go through pals and make a complaint. Unfortunately they seem to be very C-section trigger happy these days.
I gave birth last July at grh and couldn’t fault it. They let me try to give birth naturally for two hours and only said c section when babies heart kept dropping to low. They did try forceps first. I had a lady doctor but I can’t remember any of the names. They honestly were all really accommodating lovely people, it was only the wards afterwards that were rushed as they are so short staffed so if you don’t have many problems eg, no jaundice baby etc. you were seen too about an hour after you would press the buzzer but we took that as a good sign.
