Possible dairy intolerance

Does anyone else have experience of this- I am intolerant to dairy so don't eat anything with dairy in and have exclusively breastfed my baby (he's 9 months). So until weaning he wasn't exposed to dairy. We are obviously now weaning and I have introduced small amounts of dairy such as greek yoghurt but I'm unsure if he is intolerant too. He sometimes seems a bit uncomfortable after it but no major rashes or anything. When I asked the doctor she just advised to not give any dairy until 12 months 🤔 however as he starts nursery soon I was hoping to introduce some formula to prepare him for that. Does anyone know if they can test for dairy intolerance (I've never been tested, just know it makes me ill so stopped having it myself)?

No test for dairy intolerance/CMPA just a process of elimination really and seeing reactions. We have been on the special formula since about January now and he was born end November. So we will wean dairy free and we won't try reintroduction again until 12 months. We did try to reintroduce his old formula but were unsuccessful

@Cheryl what reactions did your baby have?

Nappies were khaki green smelt like eggs and he struggled to pass any wind and poo without straining and crying. He made a funny hyperventilating hiccupy sound during feeding. Arching back. General unhappiness around feeding time. More vomiting with feeds. Reflux. All these came back once he started the regular formula along with undigested milk lumps in stool and self resolved again when back on his allergen formula so the dietitian concluded it wad enough to confirm CMPA.

You can buy lactose free formula or get allergy formula prescribed from the doctors
