I was told Angus is an “unusual” name

And not a compliment lol. If you’re in the US, would you consider it unusual? This person also said it’s “hard to remember” 🫠

I love unusual names. Common names are boring.

Reminds me of 80s rock band AC/DC member Angus Young

From the US, I wouldn’t use the term “unusual” to describe Angus I’d say more uncommon of a name to hear. Personally it makes me think of cattle , because where I’m from is a large area for cattle , specifically the Angus breed. But I like the name!

Canada: definitely not unusual- it’s not as common as a lot of other names but personally I know a few people with that name. P.s all names are “hard to remember” if you don’t get to know the person but once you know them well it’s easy 😂

It's a very normal name in Scotland!

Quite normal where I grew up in England too.

In the US I wouldn't consider it weird but its not common

Not common in the US

(US) I think of Angus beef, but I’ve known it as a name and it’s not weird to me. People name their kids after fruit and other branch river type things so I don’t see the problem.

I'm in the UK and would say it's unusual in the sense that it's not a name i hear that often but not "weird" unusual - if that makes sense! Angus may not be commonly used at the moment - which i prefer, i don't like super popular names - but it is a well-known name in general. i have no idea why anyone would find it "hard to remember"! 🙄 Angus is such a lovely name and Gus is such an adorable nickname! 💙

I’m from Scotland so definitely not an unusual name here. I deliberately didn’t tell anyone the names we liked because people always have an opinion whether you want it or not.

I don’t think it’s an unusual name, it’s just unusual for people to use it these days

Yes, but not in a bad way

Angus Cloud (rip) from Euphoria definitely made the name cool in my book

Since I'm from the Midwestern US and it immediately brings to mind cattle. I've never heard of a person with that name so far.

It’s not unusual, there is Angus beef at every major fast food serving burgers, he will be called angus beef all his life for sure.

Now, flip the letters and I was considering Agnus but I had a girl so I went with Agnes :)

Also consider that it’s Anus with a G in the middle, I’m Latin and kids are brutal with nicknames. I rather get ahead of that.

I personally think of Angus beef but I mean that’s not a bad thing. I’ve heard of people naming their son’s Alfredo and I think of Alfredo pasta 😂 but to each their own. But Angus is not that bad, I agree with @CJ’s comment.

It sounds very British to me. Not unusual just not common for America.

It's definitely not a common name in the US, but it isn't unusable

All i think of is Angus beef

Good thing it’s not their baby then!
