I started combi feeding few weeks ago… following this cause I would like to gradually stop breastfeeding my baby is 5 months and I have been suggested to switch a feed every few days but any advice would be beneficial
Is it a case of switching the same feed? I find the times are never the same each day, some days I feel it’s all I do and then other days not so much
We combi fed from the start with one bottle of formula in an evening. Also had issues recently so we've introduced a second bottle of formula during the day whenever he needs it and it seems to be working well for both of us. Message me if you like.
I weaned my little boy off last year with introducing bottles around the same time every day, and then gradually reducing the amounts that he had ‘top up’ feeds from me. So I would wake and feed myself, bottle 10am, 1/2pm, etc. That way it felt like it wasn’t so harsh on my supply and he got into a routine of feeding every few hours. I also used a rapid cool to make the bottles because I found he was really funny with temperature of bottles so it was consistent! My baby is currently 3 months and hoping to do the same but the days are still so all over the place with feeds/naps etc so it’s hard to know!
I have tried to give my little one ( 4months) formula yesterday, just to try and he took it with no problem but every baby is different however my breast went so hard so quickly so definitely ease into it. 😊
The Lansinoh bottles are great to transition from breast to bottle!
I mainly breast feed but give my LO at least one bottle of formula a day, I started so I could express and keep a stash for when I had to go away overnight. she took to it straight away and is fine on it. I’ve read that you are best switching one feed at a time gradually over a few days I think if you want to full transition. Think this helps your body too.
