Bicornuate uterus

Bicornuate Uterus- planned Caesarean section?? Hi everyone, I have a bicornuate uterus(heart shaped). I’m 30 weeks and baby is breech and according to the consultant, is quite unlikely to turn. I’m well aware that baby can potentially still turn but preparing myself for if he doesn’t. Has anybody else had to have a C section because of this? How many weeks were you when they brought you in? Are there any essentials to take to the hospital etc Thankyou🩵

👋🏼 I have a very similar shape - septate. There’s an extra bit in the middle. My first was breech and in cases like ours ECV is not recommended. She didn’t turn and I had a C-section. For me the womb shape also impacted her growth in the last two months or so of pregnancy- she was born at term premie sized. So definitely make sure you get some extra sizing scans towards the end. If they are small there is a higher likelihood for feeding issues so maybe look into feeding support before the baby is born if theirs concerns about growth. Breech babies need to have an ultrasound to check thier hips after birth as they are stuck in funny position for a long time. I’m about to have my second and he’s breech too. I’m not expecting him to be able move so I’ve booked in for another C-section. I’m expected to have the csection at around 38/39 weeks - if sizing scans look bad then maybe a few weeks earlier.

@Francis Awhh bless! I am booked in for another scan at 32 weeks so will definitely be asking more questions and will hopefully get some more certainty from them. Thankyou x

Hopefully your scan all goes well. I must say it’s hard for them to truly predict with bicornate and septate uterus if the baby can turn or not. It’s down to specifics of the flexibility of that bit of your womb that’s a funny shape. Obviously it’s just less likely as the weeks go by and there’s a lesser chance with funny shaped wombs but it’s not impossible.
