Because of the connotations with the terrorist group, I would not at all use it. However, it is the name of an Egyptian goddess and was a name long before the terrorist group emerged. When I worked in veterinary medicine, I came across a dog named Isis for the goddess and she was like 5 years older than when the group became well known, but it still felt weird.
No I went to school with a girl named Isis I wouldn't use that spelling because to it's Is and Is not Issis
It's like calling your child Osama or Adolf.. yes they're names that existed before but why would you do that to your child when there's so many other names to choose from
My old friends name is Isis and I don’t think of the terroist group at all, if u want to change it up a bit u can always do Iris
Nope it’s not bad imo. It’s a name with plenty of history, and people have the right to carry on their family legacy & culture if they want to.
I dont think its bad or too controversial, unless your trying to make it look like that, if you know what i mean. Like Isis was a name before it was ever a terrorist group. I was friends with a girl whose name is Isis bc her family is Egyptian and they named her after the Egyptian Goddess to continue their roots in US since they left Cairo i believe... So I guess its basically what you want to think of the name, whether you want to harbor bad thoughts about it or just take it for what it is, a name.
