Welcome!

Hi mommas! My girl Evie has MSPI and we’re 6 months into the journey. She is fed expressed breastmilk so I have had to cut dairy and soy (including hidden) from my diet. Talk about torture😭😭. Not very many formulas are dairy/soy free but the select few that are come with a hefty price tag. I hope this group will help with questions and concerns surrounding babies intolerance (or allergy) to dairy/soy. It’s been a long journey for us and we still have a minimum of 6 months left. Pediatrician said she could grow out of it but not all babies do. Thanks for joining! ❤️❤️

Hi, I think my daughter has MSPI as well. The pediatrician initially thought she just had reflux but I started noticing some mucus and small streaks of blood in her stool. She is 2 months tomorrow and I am EBF. It’s been almost a month since I stopped all dairy and soy. 2 days ago I had a veggie burger that had corn in it and yesterday she had green mucous and some small specks of blood in her stool. Do you ever notice that your daughter’s stool will still have some mucus or did all completely disappear? I showed it to my pediatrician and she said it was normal to have some mucus. I’m not sure what else I should cut out of my diet. It’s been really challenging.

Hi! I never had blood, BUT blood can be microscopic so just because I couldn’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. My baby would have good diapers with no mucus to green diapers with mucus.. and sometimes that had a strong vinegar smell. Sometimes corn is a trigger as well but it’s possible there was hidden soy in the burger? When something is listed as an ingredient it only has to be specified it’s soy if it is NOT soybean oil or soybean lecitithin (the bold label CONTAINS: SOY) Otherwise, they can hide soy oil/lecithin as other ingredients. For example, rosemary extract can be a derivative of soy. Give me a minute and I can post the list of possible soy ingredients that don’t explicitly say “soy”. It can be very frustrating especially when you don’t see results or when you’re seeing blood. Don’t give up! It gets better

Thank you so much!!

My daughter has the same thing and it is tough. I tried cutting everything out and it still didn’t work for my LO. She was just miserable. Luckily, while at the pediatrician she pooped and the doctor tested her stool and said there was blood in it. We couldn’t see it as it was microscopic but her stool was stringy and mucusy (sorry sounds gross). We were put on an amino acid formula which your right is very expensive but we were able to fight our insurance and it’s now going towards our deductible. Plus, the cans are cheaper through insurance! Feel free to reach out if you want to chat! It’s so frustrating!

@Lori hi! Sorry for the late replay, just seeing this. Yes!! He ended up being allergic to cow milk protein, eggs, and likely something else that we never pinned down. He can now have eggs and yogurt, though we still do non-dairy milk bc it sits better with him. He was still reacting to egg at about 9mo but was ok with baked egg, so i made him oat muffins with egg to give him some exposure. He’s 16mo now and doing well!
