Concerned

Hi, I have 6 month old twins born at 35weeks, they just turned 6 months on the 11th and I’m concerned they are meeting milestones a little behind. The main one I’m concerned about is them sitting up they can sit supported really well but not by themselves. They also just started liking solids and I just started to grab for their bottle well my son does his sister does not, he laughs and she does not although she does babble a lot. I play with them a lot, talk to them constantly and I even read to them and let them sit on my lap supported or do tummy time.

I would bring that up to their doctor but remember every baby is different and hit their milestones at different points. My triplet daughters are 7 months old and they're barely sitting up supported, they're not even rolling yet but they're trying.

Ask your doctor BUT my two are like that . They now both sit up and they are 8 months. They will hold their bottle but not consistently. As far as food it’s not that important when they are under 1, so that’s ok. My two will eat purées but solids they are still adjusting but won’t eat them just kind of play with it but it’s ok either way.

It’s good you’re concerned but I think they are fine. Mine were also born at 34 weeks. Also don’t forget about their adjusted age and to go by that rather than actual age. Andddddd if they are trying then they will eventually get there just give it time.

@Shalei they actually just had an appointment yesterday and the doctor said they were fine I think I’m worried because they were born early. And I was told babies born early hit milestones later then full term babies

@Alexandria yea I can’t remember their adjusted age which I did have I’m just so tired and busy I forget things but they’re definitely trying information online is so misleading at times and my doctors don’t seem invested enough to fully care.

@Ja'Nael Well that's good that the doctor said that. And yeah I can see why you would be worried. My daughters were born at 29 weeks but according to their doctor they're fine as well and as of now not showing signs of developmental delays.

@Ja'Nael You could always go get a second opinion if you're not feeling comfortable with what the doctor has said. As a mother we're always protective of our children and we have EVERY right to question a doctor's diagnosis.
