Speech

Anyone’s ex preemie warrior slow with speech? My son is 3 in June and has only really just started saying words. Nursery are referring to speech and language. Health visiting team don’t seem concerned as he is making progress but it still worries me. My friend has a little boy 2 days younger than my son and he says full sentences - “I don’t want to go to the parrot zoo with nanny and grandad” whereas my son just points and says “uh” and the odd few single words (although friend’s son was born full term and my son was 14 weeks early and spent a long time on NICU). He’s made loads of progress all of a sudden, is saying probably a couple of new words per day now and in the last week started putting words together (although doesn’t pronounce them properly, except ‘mum’ and ‘no’ 😂) but I’m still worried.

My son 13 weeks early, almost 4 months in NICU and will be 4 on 17th has only recently maybe 6 months ago saying words. He is getting better all the time, but takes time. My son is in speech through school 2x week and daycare 4 or 5 days where he's around others who talk. You can be worried but our babies move and do things when they want, no typical things or book can help.
