Parenting with a bunny

I’m literally 18 weeks into my pregnancy and this is my first but just been thinking about my parenting techniques and I was thinking about when they turn two and scream and shout ect, I have a house bunny who is my baby, I’m an animal activist, work with animals and vegan there’s really not an animal on this earth I don’t love but obviously I love my bunny more than anything but she’s very scared of loud noises and I feel so bad for her that when my child gets to an age when they can really scream it’s going to be really scary (my flat is only small) is it bad for me to say something like (while they are screaming/ crying) “I understand you’re feeling upset or angry but you need to remember that the bunny gets scared when you are very loud like that” and I’ll obviously give cuddles if they want them but is that just guilt tripping them? Because that’s not the intention I really just worry for my bun and I want my child to learn that animals have feelings to and things can be very scary for them basically raise them the be very compassionate but worried I’m being mean to them by doing that. Also I’m aware a new born will cry but I feel toddlers can be so much louder… but idek lol maybe if they can be equally as loud my bun will just get used to it?!?!

i think that’s perfect, children need to respect animals and the earlier you teach them the better :)

My friends had a baby almost 2 years ago now and that baby could scream like a banshee. She screamed so loud the first night that they brought her back to the hospital, where they were told she was healthy and well, just screaming, welcome to parenthood! So my thought is: I think it's great to explain WHY you're making the request, but you may need to look into options for giving some soundproofing safe space to bunny for the beginning. Thank you for thinking of bun's well being!

@maizie ahhh I’m so glad you think so! Thank you I feel a lot better :)

@Sarah oh wow! That sounds challenging lol and yeah that’s a good idea, hadn’t thought of that! I’ll have a look into sound proofing, thank you!
