Trouble with Weight loss; Thoughts on overweight pregnancy
How do you know if you should consider surgery for weight loss? My current weight is 230 lbs. I’d say I don’t eat badly - I eat no fast food or meat, I only drink water and coffee. I’m eating around 2 meals a day. I really messed up my metabolism when I was younger, I only ate one meal a day from age 14 through about 29. I just started having more normal eating patterns. I do try to get movement in weekly and I lost around 12 lbs last year but I’ve gained a few lbs back due to some injuries and things so Im at 230. I have a lot of stuff with my left ankle/left foot (plantars fasciitis) and just other health factors.
I’m nervous I’ll never lose enough weight to actually feel healthy enough to get pregnant. My fertility doctor hasn’t said anything about it except when I asked and she was like of course losing weight would be great but just keep doing what you’re doing. I think my bmi is between 38-40. I am considering an egg transfer early next year (2024) to try to give myself more time. Should I consider surgery? Has anyone here been pregnant with a higher bmi and felt like they had a healthy pregnancy?
Keep in mind, you are not recommended to get pregnant within 12/18 months of weight loss surgery. Your health isn’t based on your weight. Eating well and moving your body is more important that the weight of your body. I definitely understand not feeling healthy enough, I’m very much the same, I can make a salad and chicken for dinner and not consider it healthy enough because it had dressing or cheese. Be kind to yourself. If your doctor is happy with what you are doing keep doing it
