Hey ladies! How many words are your bubs saying at the 18-month mark? How are you teaching them these words?

My daughter says over 150 words. I She’s just turned 19 months and probably could say 100 around 17 months. I’m not sure what the norm is as she is my first! But She loves to talk! We do talk lots to her, read books together, ask her questions and she likes to point at things and get us to say what they are… but to be honest we also let her watch a lot of miss Rachel 🙊

Ira can say “mumma” “Papa” but she still doesn’t call us out. She can say what noise farm animals make? Like cow-moooo horse-neigh But only the noises not farm animals name. She says hat, head, hug, shoes, pizza🤣 , hi, bye, star, up, down. She can point her body parts but can’t name them.

My 18month old has lots of words. She has been at day care from the time she was 6 months old. We read to her every day and have conversations with her. She is my first

Every kid is different. My son says probably about 50 words. But I talk to him a lot, we sing and read. Some kids click earlier and some later. If you are concerned talk to your child health team.

My son only says Mum/Mumma/Mummy and Dad/Dadda/Daddy. We read books, talk to him, do flash cards, he has vtech toys, talking flash cards etc He is on a wait list for speech therapy. If your little one isn't talking or only has a few words in their vocabulary then I highly recommend you see a doctor or paediatrician and get them some extra support. I'm not just a Mum to a little boy who needs extra support but I've worked in childcare for 15+ years and have seen many children that have needed support. I've seen them receive it and I've seen them not get it. Trust me, the latter is heartbreaking.
