Scale isn’t budging

Hi ladies! FTM here, and I’m officially 2 months PP. I gained 39 pounds my entire pregnancy. I lost 13 pounds the first two weeks and haven’t lost anything more. For the past month I’ve been eating less and have been strength training/getting my 10,000 steps in daily. I tried to exclusively BF in the beginning but it didn’t work out. I’m pumping about every 6-8 hours now, producing 1-1.5oz. Waiting until month 3 to stop pumping completely. I know it took 9 months to gain, but I’m just surprised I haven’t lost a single pound yet. Is this common? Would just love some feedback on weight loss post partum and what worked for all of you! Just need some positive words, the extra 25 pounds really gets me down. I’m trying to feel beautiful in this new body but it’s not as easy as people make it seem. Pre-pregnancy photo attached

Take it easy dear, don’t put much stress on yourself🥰 Eating right and exercise, you can do that! I don’t have enough time to exercise, use the stomach massage belt to replace,it really works,I lost 4.5KG this month!

Are you getting a solid 7-8 hours of sleep every night?

I used Herbalife shakes to lose my baby weight. Lost 4 stone doing 2 shakes a day in replacement of breakfast and lunch and a healthy dinner. I now just have a breakfast shake as I’m maintaining my weight but never been in such good shape. I am now a distributor of the products around my full time job so if you want to know more do let me know x

When you say eating less and strength training/generally exercising daily, how much “less” are you eating? It seems counterintuitive but sometimes eating too much in deficit actually prevents weight from coming down. I lost more weight doing strength training and macro counting than I ever did doing cardio and eating 1200 calories a day. Just my experience but have had it confirmed by certified nutritionists multiple times!

Get your thyroid checked! Hypothyroidism is SOOOO common PP and that’ll make losing weight nearly impossible.

From an evolutionary perspective, your body will retain fat PP Incase you need to use these fat stores to keep your body producing milk to feed your baby Incase of illness/lack of food. As long as you are active and eating nutritious foods you will get there! Don't put top much pressure on yourself over something that will just naturally happen with time xx

Even with pumping your body actually needs more calories because your body burns about 400-500 calories just making milk/nursing/pumping. So if you are exercising and walking that much plus eating less your body could just be holding onto the weight so it has the reserves to continue making milk. I personally did weight watchers after I had my daughter because it has a section that accounts for nursing/pumping and added the appropriate points for that and I was finally able to lose an additional 15 pounds. Maybe just research to see if your calories are where they really should be compared to what you are eating currently. Just don’t beat yourself up mama, you will get there. ❤️

It’s the thyroid possibly. That gets out of whack due to pregnancy. It can go into under active mode, and will only correct itself in time, 6-12months or, with help of endocrinologist. Under active thyroid slows down your metabolism, so you’re screwed basically on losing weight. I would definitely want you to be patient on the losing weight, however frustrating. Pregnancy is just an enormous attack on your body. Last thing it needs is fir yourself to attack it more. Do go to a doctor to do blood test to check thyroid. Walking is good 👍

You look great but same thing happened to me, I was in a calorie deficit and exercising everyday almost but was losing noting. I have started to loose some weight now almost 9 months postpartum. I think it’s just hormonal and our body storing the fat incase we need it. Just focus on how much better you feel after working out, getting stronger and benefits to mental health even if the scales aren’t dropping just yet they will 💪🏼

Girl it took me 3 months to lose 10 lbs! But I didn’t even start thinking about weight loss until I was 8-9 months postpartum. Go easy on yourself you are still such a new mama!

I’d stay the weight you are now rather than losing more

Hormones make this all so complicated. I didn’t lose any weight for at least 8-10 months, then my milk supply dropped/hormones shifted and then was back to prepregnancy weight when my son was 15 months and immediately got pregnant again. But I also didn’t try any calorie restriction/weight loss, just whatever movement felt good to my body. It was super hard emotionally for a little bit because my clothes didn’t fit but one Mango shopping spree later I felt great, as long as you have clothes you feel good about it really helps. My friend who tried really hard and went to the gym all the time went through the same thing, I think our bodies are doing what they need to do, and you do what you need to do to feel beautiful during this in-between time, whether that’s a spray tan or face masks or yoga or whatever self care or treat you like. For me, it was mani-pedis and really colorful dresses!

@Amanda I’ve been a personal trainer the last 15 years, I own a gym and am an online coach and specialise in Fatloss so can you imagine why I still at 6 months post partum can’t get my head around how hard it is, but everyone is right it’s down to hormones and our bodies wanting to hold on to bodyfat as much as they can , i have macro/calorie counted, i strength train 5 days a week and attended pole fitness, I also do around 12000 steps per day, don’t get me wrong I started to notice my shape come back after the 4 month mark and lbs slowly go down but usually it takes til about 9-12 months for our hormones to regulate and our bodies (with training and eating taking into consideration) go back to normal , be patient and be kind to yourself it will all come 🥰
