Early scan or not?!

I posted a few weeks ago with my positive test, first cycle after miscarriage. I’ve called EPU and I can have an early scan at the end of the week (7+5) which we’ve booked. Part of me wants to go, to check everything is ok and progressing as it should. But the other part of me is so extremely anxious as everything went downhill last time after my early scan. Do we just wait it out and assume no news is good news and wait until the normal 12 weeks, or do I just brave it and go early to find out for sure one way or the other?! Help!! X

I saw my first baby’s heart beat, so to be honest it doesn’t really offer me much affirmation. We had our scan at 6+4 due to some light spotting and we lost it 5 days later. Honestly, I don’t know what to do for the best at the moment! I’m quite happy in this blissful state of not knowing and judging on the constant nausea (which I didn’t get last time)… but I know I’ve got to face it at some point!

Hi Charlotte! I had an early scan at 7+1 and saw baby and heartbeat, it put my mind at rest for that day but the anxiety comes quickly rolling back, and now I want one every week but I know that will increase my anxiety too! I think it’s personal preference and completely up to you! X

I know what you mean. We had a scan at 8.5 weeks with a strong heartbeat, but then lost our baby just before the 12 weeks scan. But this time round I would get an early scan again as I’d rather know if something was wrong than have to wait til 12 weeks x

Did they see anything of concern at your 8.5 week scan? It’s all such an anxious time isn’t it x

@Hannah we had the exact same, although we found out at the 12 week scan that it was a missed miscarriage. It was so hard as I thought we’d got away with it. X
