Anyone’s loved one had a stroke in right side of brain?

Their behavior became very impulsive and I started to not trust their judgment. Crazy purchases. They seemed very stressed. Had two strokes today and are waiting to see what hospital’s plan is. Not sure the “cause”. Do they usually find a cause? Does it really cut their life expectancy way short? I know nothing about strokes and Google is very scary.

My dad had a hypertensive bleed in his brain 12 years ago, on the left side. Massive bleed, he's now 65 and very healthy. His cause was a combination of things; his blood pressure was high from a stressful job and he had a bad gallbladder. The gallbladder was also linked to the bleed, which is kind of crazy. My dad has the mentality of a teenager now which can be difficult and he uses a cane.

If you need to talk I'm here. It's such a hars thing.

My best friend had a stroke at 23 years old. It was later determined that her veins are abnormally small, so a clot that wouldn't affect a normal person caused her clot. Since then, she has been very impulsive. She has trouble judging appropriate behavior in social situations. She has "recovered" but is not the person I knew for 13 years, and I have grieved that.

My dad had two strokes march 31st. One on each side of the brain. I do think it’s impacted his impulse and decision making as he was trying to climb a ladder and climb onto the house only two weeks home from the hospital. He also became emotional and cried more than before (I had never seen him cry prior to that except when his mom and our dog died). He just had another stroke on Sunday on the right side. This time worse and he is HIGHLY emotional. He cries almost non stop through the day. Impulse and emotions are very normal after a stroke. As for life expectancy i dont know bc I have tried not to read too much on google. My dad will be 62 in June and was otherwise very healthy pre stroke. They’re currently trying to figure out the cause. He’s in inpatient therapy right now and will be for a few weeks because he doesn’t have the right side of his body functions right now. If you need to talk I’m here. It’s a lot to go through.

Its important to realise that each lobe in the brain controls different functions of the human body. I had a frontal lobe brain damage which operates cognitions, emotions, etc. and can see slight changes in behaviour like I'm very emotional at times etc, could say impulsive at times, sometimes overspending, lack of patience, to name a few. Give all support you can because on their end it can be frustrating. Peace
