Taking time off to look after little one

Hi all, I've been googling and checking the burgundy book online but can't find the answer.... If my little one is sick and I need to stay home to look after her, will I be paid? And how many days are you allowed to have off to care for a child. I only work 2 days a week so doubt it'll affect more than one day but wanted to check as I know a TA at my school was recently told she had to take it unpaid. I am a teacher, have just returned this term. Thanks in advance ☺️
