Has anyone heard of a selective mute? My 3 year old daughter has been to speech evaluation in which they just tested her speech and decided she is a selective mute. I had never heard of that until they diagnosed her. I'm actually wanting to get her evaluated for any other underlying problems just to be on the safe side

@Christy oh not sure how they gave the diagnosis of selective mute then
@Jenika yea I'm not sure either. Her other speech therapist said she feels like she has childhood apraxia of speech, this is the one she has been with since around October
@Christy two different opinions. I think you need to get it checked with another doctor like you said

Hi from what I know it's basically when they stop talking in certain social situations. My 3 Yr old daughter also has something similar but she hasn't been diagnosed yet
