BMI and privately funded IVF

Hi, I am about to have a consultation for IVF/ICSI with Kings fertility clinic. We already have one child From NHS fundedIVF two years ago. I know they were very strict on BMI which o managed to loose two stone to bring myself into the healthy weight category. This time round is a whole New story! I’ve put the two stone back on and now struggling to loose it big time! Does anyone know what the criteria is for Kings BMI as I’ve looked everywhere. I’m trying to be as healthy as I can but honestly struggling with combination of sleep deprivation from my toddler And also then craving so many carbs!

Can I ask what your bmi is? If its 30 that's fine. But also I think if your private there not so strict! Xx

Hey, I don’t think they’re as strict on private BUT everyone always says it’s better to try and conceive if you’re a lower bmi. But obviously tons of very overweight/unhealthy people get pregnant all the time so it’s not exclusively true. Not saying you’re unhealthy as my bmi was 30 when I started too x Also, if you’re interested, some feedback on clinics if you’re interested (as we considered kings as well). We had our first round free at guys, then decided to stay there but pay for consultant let ivf. Our consultant Tarek was absolutely AMAZING and I would a million percent recommend him x

Hey, it’s 30.9 ! I was horrified to see i had put on 2 stone. Trying to make more conscious choices and hopefully will come under the 30 mark when we start in November x

@Sarah thank you for the recommendation. We’ve already decided with Kings and have consult booked In two weeks! Thanks though x

My private clinic the limit is 35 (CRGW Plymouth)

If going private you’ll be fine, it’s just NHS that have the 30 bmi guideline. 30.9 is fine as most private clinics say under 35 xxx

I went private with kings fertility and wasn’t asked about BMI. I don’t think they have a criteria for private but all I can say is that there were brilliant for us!

I think private is a BMI of 34 or 35 so dont stress Also if you get a GP referral to the clinic then your investigations are paid for apart from AMH bloods which we paid £80 for. Its worth looking into and save that ££ We used the saved ££ to do embryoscope

Thank you, our GP won’t refer us as we have a child from a previous round of NHS. So everything now needs to pay for x

We also have a 19m old but our GP still referred us and we didnt pay for investigations This inc a scam, semen analysis and blood work. We did pay for our consultation which was a 30 min chat for £235 despite knowing it all as we had done it before

@Hannah there is usually still a criteria, my clinic the upper BMI limit is 35 of self funding

@Hannah I've already replied mentioning my clinic above. CRGW.

Probably yes, your height and weight gets done as part of a normal treatment planning appointment
