@Lucia I am thinking to do the same. We’re you happy with your choice? How was the recovery? Xx
That's true if you're comparing it to elective section. Not to full dilatation section where baby's head is more than half way through the pelvis and deliverable by assisted birth. In that situation it's safer to proceed to instrumental delivery instead of pushing baby back up and doing a section. I've never had one but I have performed thousands. I'm someone who will always discuss it with parents and always offer spinal anaesthetic in theatre if she doesn't have a really good epidural. The only exceptions to this are babies who are either visible or have extremely low heart rates where time isn't on our side. Even with instrumental births, injuries are rare. Bruising or swelling is common but that is gone very quickly. In the right situation, they're a good option. I'd have one over a fully dilated section.
I had an assisted delivery as I had a 3rd degree tear with my second child and it was as the best option for me as you don’t feel a thing and the healing is actually batter than giving birth naturally
This is a really interesting question but not straight forward. How many of the women that had an instrumental delivery had an induction, epidural, twins etc etc x
