Twin birth plan

Hey twin mamas, I’m currently 28 weeks with DCDA twins and nearing the time of planning my birth. I’m scared of having a c section because of the recovery but equally scared of a vaginal birth and pushing out two. Any advice on how you came to your decision? What kind of birth did you have and how was the recovery? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! X

Haven't had mine yet, but I'll be induced this week ! I know its my body but I discussed it with my partner. We chose a vaginal birth because from our research we've found mum's tend to recover quicker from a vaginal birth (although complications, circumstances could change this). These babies will be our first, but we also have e two big dogs to look after too. So we felt with a (hopefully) quicker recovery time, I'd be able to be more hands on than if I had a c section. My partner has been absolutely superb looking after me and the dogs through this final trimester. I don't want him to have to do much more. However I have heard women who have had c sections that have recovered quicker than vaginal delivery. So it's really hard to say 🙈

I had a vaginal delivery with my 1st singleton baby and an emc with my twins due to cord prolapse. I had a 3rd deg tear with the singleton but found the c-section recovery more difficult. Could be due to having a 3yo, could be because it was emc not planned, could be because twins is so tiring or because I'm 3years older this time round. Other people I know found c-sectiob recovery easier. What I would say is that because it's twins you could deliver 1 vaginally and still end up needing a c-section for the second which (in my view) would be the worst possible situation due to needing to heal 2 areas of your body, not 1. There isn't a right or wrong answer, just think about what gives you and birth partner more confidence.

I’m 25 weeks and in the same boat.. but I think a c section is scarier in my opinion, you can’t drive for 6 weeks after snd I’ll still need to take my little girl to nursery so vaginal birth it is for me unless c section is the safest route x

I’m still struggling with whether the decision I’ve made is the right one and I’m 33+5 with MCDA girls, planned for induction at 36 weeks😅 Initially I was going to opt for an elective c section as I was really worried that I’d go through induction and labour etc, and end up needing an emergency section anyway.. so I thought to myself surely a planned one is a lot calmer and at least you’re prepared for it! I’d also read somewhere that you can end up giving birth vaginally to the 1st twin and then sometimes end up needing an emergency section for the 2nd twin, however I’ve now opted for induction after speaking to my consultant purely due to the length of recovery time after a c section. If I end up needing an emergency one, then of course I have no choice, but I’m definitely going to try for a vaginal birth first (although I am absolutely about terrified about pushing out two aswell😭). It is so hard to make a decision… but trying to be open minded as I know anything can happen!😅xx

Midwife recommended I push as I had both of babies vaginally.

I have sat and thought for weeks what I am going to do I have I have the exact same feelings as u however I am going to go with c section as the consultant said you could have one vaginally and one c section so mayswell just have the c section then I get a date I can be prepared knowing I will meet them both that same day rather than having to be induced and could be in labour days xx

So I was going for a natural birth as both were head down. Got induced at 37 weeks and nothing happened, wasn't allowed to go home as they were twins so stuck in induction ward for 2 days.Waters were broke at 37 + 2 and still nothing happened after 10 + hours or so of nothing I ended up having an emergency section. I'm mentioning all of this to just prepare u because even though I wanted a natural I didn't have it in the end. C section wasn't too bad though maybe just rested for a week or so which wasn't too bad as I got to chill with the twins and had hubby look after me for a change lol good luck 😊

I planned natural ended up having to plan a csection don't be scared 😘 it was actually so calm the planned section never felt a thing and good as long as you keep on top of pain medication you will be abs fine ❤️❤️

Thank you everyone, really appreciate you taking the to explain your story and all the advice!! ❤️❤️❤️
