Anything to build muscle will help you burn more calories overall. Light weights 3x a week and cardio
on top of the diet and strength/cardio i would recommend pilates, every move targets the core and that helps with the belly fat. my fave schedule is: 3x strength (arms, legs, pilates) 2x cardio and drink alllll the water. i’m here with you girl
Check out diastis recti exercise
Dietitian chiming in - you can’t target weight loss in specific areas unfortunately. Exercise may help you maintain a calorie deficit more easily and may help you recover core strength which could help if you have core muscle atrophy. I’d recommend getting a consultation with a postpartum specialized personal trainer or a PT to see if that’s going on for you. But be careful about cutting too many calories out of your diet for faster weight loss! It can cause your milk supply to drop. It can also prevent muscle growth and even lead to muscle loss which will make weight loss both harder to achieve and harder to maintain. Slow weight loss is always best ESPECIALLY in the postpartum period.
One thing I’d recommend is a faja similar to bellefit. It’s meant to help with recovery of the belly after pregnancy and the compression isn’t too much. As a CPT I’d recommend weight lifting if you’re looking to burn fat, but as mentioned by @Natalie, you can’t target fat loss. Diastasis recti is real so core workouts that are more STABILITY focused work better than your typical “ab workout”, example crunches or sit ups. This can be things like bird dogs, around the worlds, rowing, single arm rows, planks, and many more.
Losing weight is not black and white there is so much to keep in consideration but I’m sure you just want a quick solution for a special event, diets and excessive working out isn’t substantial but if you’re limited on time, Stair master for 20-30 mins a day and eating high protein and low fat meals will do it for you! Stair master is great a great cardio option as it also helps build muscle. I also had a C section and started with the stair master and weighted marches to rebuild my core before I hit the weights months later :)
Thank you all of your advice and tips! I am working on doing some of the stuff that was said on here, but it is tough to stay on track when the little kids take you off track.
The only way to lose weight is a calorie deficit, exercise helps achieve that but you should to track your calorie intake too (at least for a little while). Doing weightlifting and 20 minutes of cardio afterwards is the best approach for weightloss by exercise.
