Does ovulation show on LH test the day of?

I am a bit confused how ovulation test strips work. If I am testing 2x a day everyday and notice a peak but then it suddenly drops the next day, would that day be considered ovulation or the day I had my peak? Why does it surge before actual ovulation occurs? Or Would the surge/peak be ovulation? Just confused how to calculate my DPO. I had a peak on Monday the 18th, bbt dropped (97.59f) and also first noticed EWCM. Next day, the 19th BBT started to rise 98.33f I did not test lh this day. 2 days later the 20th, I noticed more EWCM but ovulation test was already dropping showing a negative test. BBT is 98.20f. Today, the 27th my BBT is still above 98f a few symptoms I’m trying to convince are pms to not lose hope and no signs of my period yet. I took a pregnancy test this past Monday and it was negative, I assume because it is way too early. So how many DPO would I actually be today?

Your peak happens the day before you ovulate. You peaked on 18th. Ovulated on 19th and you’re now 8dpo

Ovulation tests test for the peak of the LH hormone, which is at its highest 12-48 hrs before ovulation. So when you have your peak, its likely that you will ovulate the following day but it varies by individual. Thats why its advised to have sex not only on your peak day, but a few days afterwards as well. Xx

Ovulation happens 12-72 hours after peak, depending on the person. I always ovulate 2 days after my peak (I know this as I tracked BBT which confirms ovulation has happened, and pinpoints it). LH strips only tell you that your body is gearing up to ovulate. They do not tell you that you have ovulated - you can have a peak test and then fail to ovulate. Your BBT readings have confirmed that you did ovulate on the 18th Sept (CD27), as your temp rose after that. So today you are 9DPO.
