We’ve planned to go on holiday in January so I have a good 3 months to shed as much as I can but obviously in a healthy way as still breast feeding…. Has anyone started their weight loss journey yet or has anyone got any tips.. how was your experiences getting into it etc

I have, I was pretty fitness minded before baby so have tried to use what I know. Not a PT though so please only do what works best for you. Try make sure you’re hitting 10,000 steps a day, in a calorie deficit (I am hitting about 1600 a day but do what’s best for you. A large deficit can work the opposite if done too quickly and then eating normally again) using my fitness pal to track food. I will often make my breakfast the night before and bulk cook lunch and tea to save time when baby is asleep. I try do at least 4 workouts a week. If you can, buy Gemma Atkinsons (instagram if don’t know her) latest book. It’s specifically aimed at mums to start their weight loss journey and feel more confident again. It has home and gym workouts. I find music always help with my motivation as well. Once you’ve done it for a few weeks and feel the difference you’ll want to continue as well. The obvious answer is get a PT but I know on maternity pay and the cost of a baby it isn’t that easy! X

I'd also love to know nearly 3 months postpartum and breastfeeding so want to avoid a calorie defecit but how on earth do you fit in loads of exercise with a baby??!!! She's on my boob every hour 😂

@Georgia can you give breastmilk from a bottle? I found expressing a big help for when I was too tired to breast feed or if I had loads to get done. That'll give you at least 30mins a day to get some exercise done.

I joined a couple of weeks ago SW and lost already 1 stone... I'm not BF though...

I’m also breastfeeding and have lost 1 1/2 stone since she was born 3 months ago (and still got one more to lose!) . Prioritise your milk supply if you’re planning on continuing breastfeeding- I’ve found focusing on eating loads of good stuff (greens, nuts, salad, fruit) and imagining that stuff going into my milk is really helping me keep on track and stay focused. I’ve also started carrying her in the sling/baby carrier when out and about instead of using the pram-the ideal strength training and calorie burner without dedicating any time specifically for exercise! It sounds like you’re doing amazing feeding your little one already, wishing you the best of luck with the weight loss 🥰

@Rae we still haven't got round to trying her with a bottle to be honest with you! Going to try one this weekend though, I have a haakaa I've used to get some so hopefully she'll take it 🤞 I think the main thing is boob is her ultimate comfort, tried every dummy under the sun and she's just not interested in anything but boob!

I found walking has helped !

I've joined Team RH and lost a stone in 5 weeks. You get given a calorie allowance based on your weight, height and activity level then if you're breastfeeding you get an extra 500cals on top. Im having about 2300 cals a day and losing

I’m breastfeeding and joking slimming world. You get extra stuff on their plan if your breastfeeding. I’ve only been going a few weeks and lost 1/2 already and not had any change in my milk supply. Also I’ve not been doing any regular exercise just going on walks with my boy when I can.

I've joined slimming world, lost over a stone in 5 weeks. They also gave me a booklet on breast feeding while following the plan. Im eating more than I was before joining and milk supply is fine.

I started 6 weeks PP and I'm on week 7, I have gone from 13 stone to 12.26 so lost a fair bit of weight. Some weeks I lose 1 lb some 2 and one week I even put 2 back on so it hasn't been linear! I cut out most sugary snacks, eat porridge every morning and go on regular walks.
