Newborn poos

I'm no expert as my little one is only 2 weeks old, but he went 3 days without pooping (I was super worried and spoke to the Midwife who said its normal and to give him a few more days to get things working) but he did end up pooing that 3rd night. Again he's on his second full day no poop - I've been doing bicycle legs with him and massaging his tummy to help get things moving but I've no idea if it'll work. I'd maybe contact your midwife or health visitor if worried though x

My baby doesn't poop that often either. My HV said as long as he's pooping at least 3 times a week and doesn't seem in any pain or discomfort it's nothing to worry about at the moment x

They generally say its okay up until day 5, my LO seems to be 3 days at the moment :) also they're regulating and they're bowels are learning how to work x

How are you feeding? That makes a massive difference to how often they it's not uncommon for breast fed babies to go a week without passing a bowel movement. I'm bottle feeding my second he's usually goes everyday but he's 4 weeks old now, we went through a period of where he wouldn't go for 2 days and I asked my hv and she said as long as he wasn't in any discomfort it was okay, he then went the next day xx

@Amy I’m breastfeeding but I’m having to use ready made bottles throughout the night as my supply isn’t enough to feed my baby just yet!

Try rubbing some cream into his bum to soften things up a bit :) did the trick for our baby boy who went 5/6 days xx

My new born didn’t have a poo for 5 days! But midwife said it’s only concerning if it’s past 7! Xxx
