FET is longer then I thought! Rant & advices?!

So I done my egg retrieval back in august, got ohss due to it so have 6weeks breaks and till now I had my 2nd bleeds. Was meant to have prostap injection 21st day of cycle this weekend but they not available for appointments and delayed to next cycle which meant I need to wait for another month! Can you guy enlighten me how long does it take from prostap injection to embryo transfer? Is there another protocol I can try instead of this and start this month? I have pcos/ high amh/ irregular period.

I had my egg retrieval in October last year and transfer on Dec 15 . Got blood test done Dec 23 and they called me 2 hours later to tell me it was positive for pregnancy . It’s longer if you do the genetic testing . If you don’t then transfer is 5 days after egg retrieval . We did the testing and we are so glad we did

Wow congratulations that amazing! Yeah I was going to do fresh transfer but had ohss so it delayed. How long did it take for transfer? Did you do medicated or natural cycle?

I’ve never done a protocol with prostap. But from the day of my first period doing a medicated cycle - my transfer was on day 19. I’ve done natural cycle and they have been D21 and D25

You get the trigger shot then a week after trigger shot is the transfer

You take medication for 5 days then get ultrasound then trigger then transfer

I had egg collection in feb then my periods didn’t return properly for a while so I had my transfer finally in august I’m not 14 weeks pregnant xx

I'm sure there are hundreds of protocol options but for me, both transfers took about 3 weeks to prep for after my period started. For my first FET, I did my retrieval Aug 2022 and didn't transfer until Nov. I also had OHSS and needed to recover plus we did genetic testing and an ERA to make sure everything was good to go before we transferred. If we had skipped the ERA I think we would have transferred in Oct instead.

At my clinic, I had a Prostap injection on day 21 and then they booked me for a baseline scan 10-14 days after. You should also have a bleed during this period, so your lining should be thin at your baseline. If it is thin, they will tell you to start estrogen patches or tablets. You will then be monitored with scans every couple of days until your lining is at least 8mm at which point you can start the progesterone. If you are transferring a blastocyst, you will have the transfer 6 days after you start progesterone. In total, from Prostap to transfer is approximately 4-5 weeks. It can depend on how long your lining takes to develop or any other scheduling considerations that could push back your transfer date slightly. There is a short protocol, where you don’t down regulate on Prostap, but I imagine you’d have to speak with a consultant in your clinic. I know an extra month feels like a lot, but it’s really quite insignificant and will pass more quickly than you think!

@Naz thank you so much & yes I am hoping to start prostap next month, waiting for my period to start. Yeah just need to be more patient.

@Naz did you have the pro stap injection after you confirmed that you had a positive ovulation on day 21

@Anaya ovulation wasn’t relevant because it was a medicated cycle. I had prostap on day 21 to down regulate (switch off hormone production) so that once my lining was thin, I could go on estrogen patches and then start progesterone.

@Naz can I show you my protocol i will text you

@Anaya I think it would be best to speak to your clinic and clarify anything you don’t understand. I’m not totally sure what you’re unclear about, but I can only comment on my experience and what I’ve learned for myself. It’s normal to have the Prostap injection on day 21 for a medicated FET the following month.

@Naz I have spoke to them today they told me that when your ovulation is positive. Then you ring to book a scan. I did a clear blue ovulation test its a static face yesterday and today its a solid face

@Anaya Ok good so just follow their instructions. It’s probably because not everyone’s cycle is the same length so they just want to make sure you’ve ovulated as expected and then start the down regulation
