Colic and Coffee ☕️

Have any breastfeeding mums had luck relieving colic symptoms by giving up coffee? I’ve been off the grind for about 4 days and I SWEAR he’s a different baby all of a sudden (first 3 days there was no change)! Maybe it’s coincidence… but he went from intense crying all day to just some cute little whimpers when he’s tired! Everyone keeps saying coffee is ok, but something in my gut told me to try kicking it. Several doctors told me not to bother with cutting out coffee! It’s been tough without the brew, but having him be MUCH less fussy all of a sudden is well worth it! I hope it sticks🤞 I have been emotional because seeing him smile and be calm is so new to me. 🥹 Also, just FYI I don’t eat dairy or eggs (even before pregnancy). I hear those are common triggers, but even without those things in my diet he was still crying basically anytime he was awake.

In my experience true colic is always there but certain triggers can make it much worse. I would stand on my head every day if my kid started crying less after I did so. 😂😭 I say keep it up just to see. I know it is rough though. I have been off caffeine for a long time and I usually feel better without the coffee crash so give it a chance. If it doesn't work then there is no use making yourself miserable, however.

It helped my baby big time!! I thunk it was causing digesting issues, so I kicked it when he was 2 weeks old. I'm still having some issues at night with him, so I'm still figuring that one out.

Coffee can be okay for some depending on diet but if you notice a huge difference I’d say to leave coffee for now. I used to always have one cup a day because I needed to stay awake more at night with my LO then I realised it was affecting her and giving her loads of wind which made her cry for hours at night. I changed my diet cut off caffeine and drink loads of water she’s getting better now z

Some babies can be more sensitive to caffeine than others! Doctors are dismissive of this for some reason.
