Reflux advice

Hi all, Pretty sure my LG has reflux. As a result, she doesn’t go down for more than 40 minutes alone without becoming uncomfortable- day or night. Anyone have any recommendations? I’m doing the usual feeding upright, staying upright after feeds, burping during feeds etc.

Mine has reflux too. We went to the doctor and he’s on Nexium now. He still spits up but he’s not hurting anymore from the reflux. Try going to the doctor and get the baby on some reflux meds. This will make such a difference I promise

Roll up a towel and put it under her mattress to elivate her while she slept to help the reflux!

You may need thicker for her feeds

Our dude has it too! He’s 9 weeks now and will basically only sleep on someone, or on his wedge (for 40 mins - 2 hours). His best sleep comes when he sleeps on the wedge (swaddled) next to us in bed. He just needs a lot of cuddles. It’s tough but we’ve stopped trying to get him to lie flat. https://www.dunasty.com/products/cosydream-anti-reflux-elevated-baby-lounger-babymoov?currency=USD&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=ea5bb7384110&gclid=Cj0KCQiAuqKqBhDxARIsAFZELmIo0qdy3A-bOA93fJ0UdANeKrvNzgtErHQthJTU9nLL05hLphuQCVQaAvxZEALw_wcB

@Ashley agree! Anti reflux drugs seemed to really help our baby. Also reflux can be associated with low weight gain so make sure that your baby is keeping enough calories down and maybe go for more frequent weigh-ins or have a scale at home to check

My boy has reflux so we got the next to you crib that can be tilted so his head is slightly higher than his body, seems to help

My daughter has horrific reflux. I’ve tried everything from holistic to baby Pepcid. I found the evivo probiotic and the omeprazole has completely helped! The dr has to proscribe the omeprazole. Also, make sure the babies crib is lifted so she’s not laying flat as that aggravates their reflux.

Thanks everyone, I’ve been to the doctors today and they’ve prescribed her gaviscon for now. If that doesn’t suit her then we’ll move to omeprazole!

@Ellena we never ended up using it! The HV and infant feeding team advised against it as it can cause other issues like constipation and it tends to mask the problem instead of solving it. So, the infant feeding team observed me feeding her and that uncovered a lot for us! Are you breastfeeding?

@EllenaSo so much better! During the day she will still only sleep on me, but I’ve decided to let go and embrace that as I’ll never get this time back with her. At night, she goes down for anywhere between 4-6 hours to begin with and then she has a feed and then goes back down for about 2-3 hours, will sometimes get her back down for another hour after that, but only if I’m lucky! The infant team were way more helpful than anyone else I went to. There I found out I had a shallow latch and also a fast let down, which they explained can cause tummy ache and more reflux issues, so they helped me with different feeding positions and it’s honestly made the world of difference. Going from getting 2 hours of sleep a night max to now nearly getting a whole night is just 👌🏻They also assessed for tongue etc- I would try and rule that out if you can!

@Ellena also, did you or your little one have antibiotics during or after birth? Apparently they can strip babies gut of good bacteria making digestion harder, so the feeding team suggested I try probiotics, so my little girl has been on Bio Gaia probiotics (can get them from Amazon) for a month now I’d say. They’ve certainly not been a silver bullet, but I think they’ve contributed to helping the problem overall.
