What age did u apply for school nursery?

My little girl is 2 next week & she’s starting nursery in January, 2 days a week xxx

Do they? I thought it was legally 5?

My almost 2YO starts school in January. You’d need to apply before the end of this term if you wanted them to start in April. They don’t have to start school until 5 technically but it’s good for them. I think you have until June to start them in September(I think). I recommend viewing the nurseries before you applying. I picked a nursery that was a school throughout so they will always be at that school. Some others were not very good nurseries. I only applied for one.

Like they don’t need to go to a nursery school they can just start school at 5?

@Hayley my daughter goes to a childminders. Can she stay there or do I have to get her into a nursery at 3?

Our school had a preschool which only takes them the year before school. I think it varies where you are! I didn’t even get a place in our local one so my daughter went to a different one anyway. It’s all personal choice before school, not mandatory. 😊

No child has to go to nursery/school before the age of 5 but some childcare is definitely recommended just so the just socialises which other children. You have to pay for childcare- you can get funded hours from April 2024 if your child is 2 ( 15hours) and when they turn 3 you either qualify for 15 or 30 funded hours- you will usually always have to pay something and it’s the term after they’re birthday so for example if they turn 3 in April they get the 3 year funded hours in the September :)

@Hayley yeah so would the childcare at the childminders :) and all the kids that go there are all the same age (2/3) so I think it’s worked out nicely
