Childcare

I’m going to start looking for childcare soon and was just wondering if there is like a database or something for childminders. Sorry if this sounds stupid I literally just have no idea where to start 🤯

Not sure if there is a database but pretty sure they have Ofsted inspections!

@Becky yeah I think they do too, it’s just where to find them!

www.childcare.co.uk You can set up a profile and people can contact you or you can view them and message to enquire etc.

They have an app too!

Do you want child minders or nursery? X

@Sarah I looked on there but it only bought up one in the area and I know there are a lot more

@Caitlin I want to look into both really and see which we prefer x

I personally prefer nurseries, I have seen a child minder in my baby group kinda neglect the 3 children she was looking after..e.g Lo left the room, and she didn't realise she had left. Other mum's brought her back (child minder doesn't even know the lo had left). The list is endless, plus being a social worker has scared me for life, and I wouldn't know who comes to the child minder's house.

Childcare.co.uk or contact your local council they should hold a list of all the childminders in your area.

@Naomi this is not true of all childminders. They have to go through a lot of checks and training to be registered and follow the same curriculum of nurseries. I personally couldn’t imagine sending my baby to a Nursery to be stuck in one room all day. A Childminder setting is a lot more homely for a baby, and they get to go out about more and experience different things whilst still being helped to develop.
