Vaccines

Anyone decide to postpone vaccinations? How did you go about it? Did you have trouble with a pediatrician or the hospital? I deff want to postpone vaccinations until my baby is at least 5. I really would like to never have her get any but I don’t want to homeschool her I want her to have a normal life. Any tips?

Eh this is tough, but I say to each their own? Each decision comes with its own? Gotta weigh the pros and cons I will say they don’t get as many vaccines in the first two years like people think, they get most under 1, two under two and none at 3. Until 4 when they get chicken pox, but schools aside they need it for daycare too. Because if I’m being blunt just to be honest, if my kid couldn’t be vaccinated I wouldn’t want them around kids who are unvaccinated. I wouldn’t want my baby around or touched by unvaccinated kids.

I think it’s just something everyone has to weight, and accept their decisions confidently but also like if you dont then it comes with social draw backs in a way. Some more obvious than others. Like my sister in law none of her kids are vaccinated and their home schooled but my other sister in law is not comfy with her kids touching her new born. And their mom gets super offended. It’s like a scale, what’s worth what I guess?

@Jessica yes that’s why I’m not doing day care luckily I don’t have to and only postponing u til she will be around lots of other kids like school systems. Thanks for your feedback!

@Danielle sorry I missed that part. At the end of the day I think it’s just a tough choice. Talk to doctor about options cause I remember being behind on 4 shots and I think my mom may have opt to have me get them all at once and I HATE needles. I remember that day vividly lol

@Jessica ugh yeah I’m going to start searching for a pediatrician this week and see what diff ones say

@Danielle good luck I completely dropped the ball on that one. I had to take him to my doctor cause they had a pcp for kids there too thankfully. And childrens hospital is soooo hard to get into in my city. I ended up getting him into the place my husband and all 9 of his siblings went to which was nice cause they recongnzied the last name. When you look up the smaller places usually their websites have a bio on the doctors and I read those and make my choice on a specific doctor

I see you're in NY too. Our state has pretty strict vaccine guidelines compared to other states so this is going to be tricky with schools. And a lot of the practices in the state require vaccines unless there's medical exemption. Just something to keep in mind. There is a delayed schedule that may work better for you rather than getting a lot of injections at once, especially at the age when they start to remember

@Chrissy this is interesting I didn’t even consider that different states have different requirements. I wonder if it’s due to population density

May I ask what your reasons are for postponing vaccines?
