I’m having an elective c section at the end of jan as well which I booked this week. I was told I had to come in 2 days before my section for my bloods to be taken and then I had to go and sign the paperwork for the operation and the anaesthetic paperwork. You will be give some tables to take one the night before and one or 2 morning off the section. And I have to be at hospital for 7:30 day of c section. Hope this helps you
The anaesthetist would usually meet with you to discuss the operation, discuss methods of pain relief like spinal block etc. take consent as well let you know about eventualities for example in an emergency would you’d opt for a blood transfusion should you need it etc.
I had an appointment with the anaesthetist, a week later at my midwife appointment (on a Friday) was told I was having baby the following Thursday and had my pre op on the Tuesday before xx
I just had the initial appt with my consultant, then pre op then the actual procedure. It was a very last min decision so there weren’t many appointments x
Thanks guys seems very varied by hospital maybe.. I’ll give the hospital a call tomorrow
I had one recently and only had one pre op appointment. I had a meeting with the anaesthetist on the day of the op to go through the whole procedure and to answer any questions I had. They’re very thorough with discussing it all, it really put my mind at ease. Also the consultant and head doctor and nurses and midwives meet you before the op to discuss their role and to answer any questions. Sorry for the very long winded answer 😅 hope it helps. You’ve got this! 💕
