Shaving

Do you have to shave before giving birth? I just saw a post saying that you have to be pretty much bald before you give birth?

No! Totally personal preference

Nooo! if you have a c section i’m pretty sure they’ll shave you but absolutely not! if you want to then do it, if not do not worry! last thing that was on my mind was to shave 😂

No I’ve actually read some midwife’s advise against it as it stops infection

No you do not have to shave before giving birth!

It might depend what country you’re in. In the UK, no

I didn’t. I mean I went into premature labour didn’t even have shaved legs 🤦🏻‍♀️ But absolutely you don’t have to

Absolutely not! Personal preference, midwives do not care x

absolutely not!!

No! Pubes are there for a reason - fab at preventing infection x

No, it’s personal preference. I’m gonna be a single mum so when I go into labour I probably won’t be shaving unless I can get someone to help😂

I didn’t.

I did my best to shave maybe a week or 2 before but I couldn’t see what I was doing lol. Doctors have seen it all. They don’t care. It’s completely up to you. I ended up having an emergency C-section and they shaved what they needed to for me

I didn't, I did some reading and not shaving before birth can help prevent infection

@Lucy I genuinely don’t think I could reach😅

Haha no you don’t have to. I didn’t shave at all and for my c section wihh the my first they somewhat shaved me. But I wouldn’t shave right before anyway because you could maybe get an infection. So if you were to I would do it like a week before due date or something

Most people don’t advise it after 37 weeks due to infection you most definitely do not need to be bald xx Depending on your preference you could trim because it gets bit meat down there with bleeding ect & will be easier to clean clots & blood ect if it hasn’t got a massive bush to cling to but it’s not a necessity with my daughter I shaved at 37 weeks exactly & let it grow until I gave birth

@Gabrielle I’m getting induced this week coming, I’m just gonna leave it then I’m sure the midwife’s won’t be fussed was just confused because people were saying you had to because of fluids and stuff😅

my personal experience, i wish i had atleast cut some off because during the healing process you bleed a lot, and even with the peri bottle and dabbing with tp, i had noticed that it was less frustrating and cleaner when i had trimmed once i got home

U don’t have to I’m not I have heard from ppl who deliver babies that they do not care

@Tori might have to get the partner in to help me trim😅😅

No you definitely don’t! They have seen everything and are professionals and honestly you wont care at the time when you are giving birth

I think I’ve seen the same thing. That was in regards to having a cesearean and that’s because of where your wound will be and not getting the plaster stuck to your hair but I’m sure you don’t have to 🤷🏼‍♀️ we’re entitled to do what we want with our body hair I wouldn’t worry about it x

It's not about preference. You shouldn't be shaving a few weeks before birth as it will give a higher chance of catching an infection! Please do not shave yourself before birth!
