@Kayleigh I thought it was only 1 sachet 6 times a day I was told she could only have 1 in 6 feeds by the doctor. Then again she’s still adamant she’s been having enough milk. I still want to try the carabel I might just buy it cause she seems hungry just can’t seem to drink it
One full sachet is the 2 little ones that come together so technically you can have the 12 a day that’s what my dr said. So I just cut them in half and use one of those in each feed. If you’ve only give her 2 feeds with the Gaviscon I would say keep going for now. That will help more with any discomfort she has vs carobel. That is simply just to make the milk thicker. If you do use it you can’t put the Gaviscon in too just FYI.
@Kayleigh oh I see loads of people use both. A lot of mums prefer the carobel I think because I think it’s not as harsh on their tummies but every baby is different I suppose
Oh really? Everywhere online says not to use both together as that’s 2 types of thickeners so I wouldn’t use both I’d choose one or the other. I would defo give the Gaviscon time to settle in though. I’ve not heard of Gaviscon being harsh on the tummy before if anything it does the opposite. But I completely agree every baby responds differently to medication/milks etc. hopefully something will help your little girl!
@Kayleigh I’ve not really noticed that the gaviscon has thickened it. I’m not too sure though I’ll have to compare with milk without it. She’s still not really keeping it down
@Emily oh bless her. Is she bringing it all back up again or just refusing to drink her whole bottle?
@Kayleigh just refusing to finish. She did have a 5oz bottle at midday but then back 3oz the last 2 feeds
@Kayleigh do you know if you are allowed to mix 2 sachets? It says each sachet with 115ml of formula, but for babies over 4.5kg 2 sachets. My LO only has 120-150ml at a time so I’m a bit confused
@Ilona I’m not sure. My little girl has 150ml at a time so I just use one sachet in each feed. I was told by my GP that I could give her 2 Sachets up to 6 times a day but she was feeding 8 times a day so I just cut the pack into 2 and used one little one in each feed so she’s not getting more than 12 a day. It does say on the pack they can have 2 sachets per feed up to 6 times a day. Wouldn’t worry about the mls just make sure you give it a good shake cause it’s a bigger to disperse I’ve found
My little girl has this too and is on Gaviscon and Omeprazole. The carabel I think just thickens the milk. The Gaviscon does the same but also lines the tummy to stop them from being sick again. My daughter has 7-8 feeds a day and I use a sachet in each (you’re allowed to give 12 sachets up to 6 times a day so instead I use 1 sachet in each bottle) it should work pretty much immediately with the Gaviscon. I’d keep going before changing again. My LG got prescribed omeprazole too as she was still in pain half way through a feed so she has that once a day too but since giving those she seems much better. ☺️
