Referred to Fetal Medicine after high NT fluid

We had our ‘12 week’ scan last Sunday but measurement 10 weeks 5days, which did not surprise me as my cycles are not regular and we had a private scan at 7 weeks 3 days so I knew we would not be 12 weeks at the NHS scan. Unfortunately the sonographer was very unfriendly, she didn’t speak to me once and didn’t show me my baby properly. At the end of the scan she just said there is some fluid behind babies head and I am referring you to fetal medicine and told us to wait outside for the report. She did not give me a scan picture or take my bloods. My scan with fetal medicine is next week, I’m trying to be positive but I’m so scared this is my first pregnancy after 5 years ttc. Has anyone been referred to fetal medicine?

Hey girl. With my first I had the exact same thing. High NT, unfriendly sonographer…. She literally said “this doesn’t look good” and left the room. We were then taken to the BEREAVEMENT ROOM and told it was likely baby would have an issue, given abortion leaflets etc… referred to fetal medicine a specialist looked at baby for about 30 seconds and was like yeah your baby is fine, they’re stupid. She was born healthy and is now a thriving 2yo. Equally, my best friend had an NT reading of over 7, told the same thing, fetal medicine also weren’t 100% sure, had all the tests…. She was born in December and is perfect. The NT measurements are notoriously inaccurate and often don’t mean much. FM will do a NIPT blood test and a more detailed scan which will tell you much more xx

Thank you so much for replying, I really pray I have the same outcome 🙏🏽
