Hates the playpen!

Recently just bought a playpen for my nearly 10 month old little boy so I can get some bits done while he plays so he’s not getting up to mischief but he won’t go in it he screams blue murder 😩 it’s not small so he’s got plenty of room to crawl round. Iv tried sitting in there with him, he’s got all his favourite toys in there Iv been trying all week! Any ideas on what to try next? Does anyone else’s baby not like a playpen?

Mine doesn't like it either, but she has a severe case of separation anxiety in the picture too. I follow for ideas.

I bought one as I thought it would be a way to keep her safe while I did stuff but then decided to send it back before I used it because I just knew from her personality she would not suit not being able to do what she wants or be with me when she needs! I think all babies are different and some will like it and others not so much. 🤷 maybe he will get used to it but for me, I just accept that some days she will play happily on her own, not causing mischief and others she will be hanging onto my trousers and not let me do anything. Personality, I would rather accept that than listen to her cry in a play pen that makes her sad.

Pretty sure mine wouldn’t like it either. He doesn’t accept anything that restricts him.

We have one and my little boy didn't like it either to begin with. But I spent some time sat in there playing with him, modelling how to use certain toys, then left for 1 minute and came back, then 3 minutes and came back, and gradually increased the amount of time. Now I can leave him for 10-30 mins or so (obviously checking on him regularly and watching on a camera too) and he's okay. I utilise it probably twice a day at the most otherwise he has free roam x

My baby hated it at first, so I placed these soft play stairs which allow him to overlook a bit and his happy in there.

Mine is more inclined if I put her in first thing in a morning, defo not a tea time. I then put her in if I need to pack the car or run upstairs for a wash load etc even if it’s just for a few minutes I know she’s safe

I found that while I’m with my baby she hates it and clambers on me, no interest in toys. However, if my husband is there and I’m out she sits there happily all by herself playing while my husband does chores in the kitchen, etc. like wtf seriously 😭🤷🏼‍♀️
