Slow Bowel Transit Time

Has anyone noticed this as a symptom? I've especially noticed this with our boy since starting solids. Food that he eats takes a long time to get out the other end. Is CMPA known to affect gut motility?

Following, because I came here to ask the same!

@Amy it's almost like he's constipated, as in won't go for days, is really uncomfortable and in pain, straining to poo, but then when it comes about a few days later it's liquid and explosive rather than solid like with constipation. The Paediatrician said this is all part of the reaction but the slow transit time/motility never seems to be stated as a symptom anywhere I've read about it.

My baby has CMPA too but i’ve noticed her bowel movements improved significantly since starting solids x

@Rebecca this sounds exactly the same as my son, he would only go once a week (he's on aptamil pepti, if that makes any difference) and then when he'd go they would be explosive. Now, we have started weaning the past week, and he still wasn't going as regular. But then, Friday night to Saturday morning, he went 6 times, all solid. Then this morning, he had a massive explosive one, so I have no idea what's going on. I wasn't sure if it's his body adjusting to the food or whether he's had a reaction to something!I have no idea what's going on right now x

@Leolie we hoped this might be the case but unfortunately not for us. He's got worse!

@Amy mine's EBF (I'm dairy free). We're trying to get him onto Aptamil Pepti as well to combi feed but he's completely rejecting it. It's all so confusing isn't it! We were originally told it was just his tummy adjusting to the solids but he was in too much pain with it and the "adjustment" was going on too long so now they're saying it's due to his milk reaction. I just don't know anymore either! X

My son was the same and I thought it’s because we started solids as well. So I just tried to give prunes everyday, tried to give him water as much as I could and he would go every other day and would cry and strain. We started working with a naturopath and she said he should still be going everyday just like how we should be having movements everyday. So she put him on a probiotic and now he’s been going everyday.

@Alisha I gave mine prunes and it still took over 48 hours until he pooped! I'm glad that's worked for you! Ours is already on a probiotic, doesn't seem to be doing much for him!

@Kelsi I tried all the "P" fruits and they slowed things down more for him. And we're the opposite, veg seems to make him go better than fruit. Nothing makes sense anymore 😂 x

@Rebecca ugh that’s so frustrating, maybe try a diff probiotic or one with more strains?? Hopefully you figure it out!

@Alisha tried a few already 😅 we've only just got our diagnosis and I've only just gone dairy free so I'm hoping as his gut heals and he's no longer exposed to it these symptoms resolve x
