Genital HSV Pregnant

Hi ladies I need advice, I’m 27 weeks now but I’ve been anxious about birth this time around, I had no symptoms with my 1st and didn’t even take antivirals bc I wasn’t sure if I had it( long story). This time around I know they will give antivirals bc I had to be induced before bc of preeclampsia. My fear is what if I have to be induced again and it’s not enough time for the antivirals to do its thing? My doula told me about L-lysine supplements but I can’t find any information to support taking it in pregnancy, I asked the midwife she said it wouldn’t do anything but never said explicitly it wasn’t safe. I know medical advice cannot be provided but anyone been in a similar situation or any questions I ask the doc?

It’s only if you’re in active flare that it even matters, the antivirals are to prevent that.. could you just take them a few weeks earlier around the time you think you could be induced?

So I've suffered BAD and I mean BAD with cold sores for a year now - I was in hospital last May as they thought it spread to my brain (it got to my eye and I'm still partially blind) I've got 3 cold sores round my mouth as we speak -- I take acyclovir daily - they want to start me at 36 weeks on 3 tablets a day My advise is just ask for the medication now and just take it daily to help build up that barrier - I've found it doesn't always help e.g with 3 cold sores now but it's best to be safe - I've luckily never had them down below but like i said they've advised I tale 3 a day from 36 weeks on wards -I think I'll be asking for more around week 32 just to be safe - I've taken these tablets the whole pregnancy and they are safe as far as I'm concerned and every scan I've had little one is growing perfectly cx

@Susannah I did ask the midwife and she said we will see when I get closer to that point. I will definitely bring it up again, thanks

@Laura thanks for the advice, I have a prescription and a refill the pharmacy had me pick up, didn’t use it yet as the out break had passed when I got the medication so if anything I probably could just start 2 weeks b4 that to be on the safer side, definitely going to refrain from intercourse the last month too

How did everything go for you?
