Placid baby personality

Sometimes I worry my baby is too placid. He’s 3.5 months old. I can leave him on the playmat or in bouncer for ages and him not complain and when he wakes up from a nap he never cries out just lays there looking around. He can be quite chatty and smiley if I make the effort but otherwise he will be pretty quiet. When I have him on my lap and try to look at face close up he will purposely turn his head away from me and doesn’t try to engage unless I do it first. He doesn’t seem to care if I leave a room and has never been clingy. Does any of this sound normal or a little bit unusual? I see other babies really looking at their mums faces in delight a lot of the time!

Sounds like you have a very content little angel 🥰 are you quite smiley/animated when you talk to him? I find the more animated and smiley I am the more my baby will be chatty and smiley back x

Our LG is very similar… we keep saying she’s been so easy and we will pay for it next time 😂

This sounds like our girl too I wondered if it was normal she was happy to just be on her own (in the ways you said) but I keep being told it just means she’s a content little soul and she’s got a chilled temperament. The only time we hear her cry is in the night if she wants a feed! I say we just thank our lucky stars haha

Thanks girls, yes I am very smiley and animated to him with an exaggerated baby voice! He will engage back but only if I do first and not all the time. I find it odd that he’s fine to be left alone and doesn’t ever cry out for me or choose to look at me. I hope I have nothing to worry about and it’s not early autism signs. X

My baby is the same. He’s now a bit crankier since he turned 16 weeks but all that means is that he sometimes complains when he’s overtired. Otherwise much like yours. He’s not overly smiley (although he does smile at me and his dad) and can sit in the bouncer for ages without complaining. I was also worried initially but I just hope he’s a calm person overall

Enjoy it as it may.. or may not last😀 My daughter was such an easy and content baby but it all changed when she started teething and became mobile 😂 xx
